Mariah Carey hired extra security after Nicki Minaj allegedly threatened to shoot her.
The new American Idol judges had an explosive argument on the set of the talent show on Tuesday and the Hero diva is worried about the ‘unpredictable’ rapper’s next move.
Mariah, 42, contacted chat show host Barbara Walters, who read out a statement on The View which revealed several staff members had heard Nicki quip: ‘If I had a gun I would shoot the b***h.’
Barbara explained: ‘She said she is very concerned, she’s with her twins, she doesn’t feel that anything would happen, but Nicki is unpredictable and Mariah says she can’t take a chance and has hired extra security.
‘Nicki has not apologised, but they were together in meetings… during which Nicki said, “I love you, but we might fight again!”
‘Mariah said at this point she doesn’t feel comfortable emotionally but she will continue with the show because she loves mentoring the contestants.’
However producer Nigel Lythgoe has previously claimed he believes the comment was made up by Mariah’s team to cause drama.
Regardless, it was enough to make Nicki, 29, lash out in a furious Twitter rant which appeared to reopen the row.
Nicki wrote: ‘I don’t call tmz n Barbara Walters cuz I stand on my own two feet. Never needed an army. God is good. Insecurity is as cruel as the grave.’
The feisty star then insinuated that Mariah was creating ‘lies’ out of jealousy, after producers had praised her spot on the show.
She posted on her Twitter page: ‘I guess it hurts 2 have the producers tell u to ur face that nicki is the best judge we’ve had since simon. Awww, poor u. Keep them lies cmn.’
And Nicki was only just getting started as she quickly followed it up with the words, ‘Tried to keep quiet but let’s go!!!!’
The star addressed Mariah directly once again as she wrote: ‘I thought we resolved it yesterday but I see u want ur pity party to continue.’
But she then seemed to turn on Barbara for stirring up trouble and claimed that ‘this day shall go down in history’.
Meanwhile, Mariah has steered clear of the comments and of the micro-blogging site.
However their fellow judge Keith Urban, who sits on the panel alongside the two ladies and Randy Jackson, did weigh in on the feud.
On Wednesday he told Extra he felt like ‘the UN’ and added: ‘I love it, I gotta say. I love working with passionate people. I love artists. Everyone just sort of expressing themselves. It’s a very alive and very invigorating work environment.’ [source]
Like I said before, the only thing sadder than Nicki Minaj being a judge on this show is that this show is even still on and that people give a shyt. Now it seems though that American Idol has found the proper formula to actually make this dying ass dying show relevant again by add the basketball wives/ Love n Hip-Hop type magic:
A Black woman acting a gatdamn fool.
No one is watching American Idol for the actual acts anymore and record companies can literally give 4 farts and damn who takes home the crown. Why? Because none of us really care anymore. Reality shows are now watched for two reasons and two reasons alone: Drama and Train wrecks. And no one gives reality show drama and train wrecks like an ignant-azz Black woman who doesn’t know when to shut the hell up and has no problem showing you how REAL she is.
And mark my words… people are going to tune in to American idol more so than they have in a very long time but it won’t be at all for the actual acts. It will be to see just how ignant these two Black women can get on camera. Yea.. in case you forgot.. Mariah Carey DOES identify herself as Black.
Two Black women acting stupid? Reality teeeeveeeeee GOLD. Only thing better would be to throw in some crazy italians into the mix.
Now I’m going to sit here and judge the shyt out of everyone who runs in droves to watch this ridiculousness but it won’t matter.
It’s.About.to go. downnnn.
…and taking many of us with it.
: slow clap : Thanks though, Nicki… way to keep all those wonderful stereotypes about black women, going strong.
You could still get it though.
What, I didn’t type that, my penis did. Don’t judge me, judge him.
