We tell ourselves there is an issue with voter fraud because we don’t want to realize that we are racists fvcks who don’t want minorities, women, students, and seniors to vote.
We tell ourselves that the “neighborhood based school system” benefits society at large because we don’t want to admit that we secretly don’t want “those” kids going to school with “our” kids.
We tell ourselves that our freedom and liberties are under attack because we don’t want to face the reality that we have become slaves of our collective and corporate greed.
We tell ourselves that the war against drugs is to protect our children while we secretly smoke weed and joke about “those” days we tried cocaine as they sleep.
We tell ourselves that we are the greatest nation on the planet, the banner carriers of democracy because we really despise the view of the ugly fat debt enslaved reject that we’ve become. We’re embarrassed so we gloat in the glory of our past and wear that historical glory while the cool kids laugh at our torn and battered members only jacket. We’ve become “that” uncle at the world family reunion.
We tell ourselves that our current recession is nothing more than a temporary set back and phase of a typical capitalistic economy because we don’t want to take a realistic look at pile of debt that has overtaken our GDP. We’ve found ourselves where our interest payments have become so great that it would require a complete reset of or economy to deal with the can we’ve kicked to the end of this dead end road. Wish we had a leader bold enough to pick up the can.
We tell ourselves that middle eastern nations are filled with terrorist that are itching to invade the homes of American citizens, kill our women, and rape our children because we do not want to admit that we fear anyone that does not speak English or have physical features that remind us of John Wayne.
We tell ourselves lies because we don’t have the collective social and moral courage as a society to face the hard truths that face us all. Unfortunately there is a saying that says the person who is afraid of the truth is doomed to die under the weight of deceit.
Folk not ready to die under the weight of deceit. So can we stop lying and all the fvcking talking? It’s time that we acknowledge and embrace our sins, atone for our evils, and grow into the society that we proclaim we are.
And that’s what Folk got to say about it this week.
