A DeLeon Springs woman arguing with her boyfriend about the two of them getting evicted poured hot wax on his face and hair, bit him in the jaw and punched him in the nose, a sheriff’s deputy reported.
Denise Harris, 39, was arrested and charged with battery, an incident report shows.
Harris was booked into the Volusia County Branch Jail and released on $1,000 bail, a booking officer said.
Deputies were called to a home at Johnson Lake Road in DeLeon Springs at 11:15 p.m. Wednesday by Lemuel Courson, 38, who reported the incident.
Courson said he was sitting on the sofa talking with Harris about what they were going to do since they were being evicted Thursday and that’s when Harris got angry, the report shows.
Harris, listed in the report as a student at Florida Technical College in DeLand, picked up a lit candle and poured hot wax on Courson’s face and hair, deputies said. Harris jumped up and went outside to get away from Harris but she followed him, jumped on him and bit him on the jaw. When Courson pushed her off him, she punched him in the nose, the report states.
The deputy wrote in the report that Courson “had dried wax on the side of his face which lead into his hair.”
Dried wax was also found on the sofa and coffee table in the living room, the report said. [source]
