I have not seen any of the movies nominated so I don’t care

I wanted Fruitvale Station to be nominated for something! Disappointed in that.

    If I had to guess

Best Actor – Matthew McConaughey — “Dallas Buyers Club”

Best Actress – Meryl Streep — “August: Osage County”

Best Supporting Actor – Jared Leto — “Dallas Buyers Club”

Best Supporting Actress – Julia Roberts — “August: Osage County”

Best Picture – “Dallas Buyers Club”

    • Breezy

I just saw August: Osage County it was the worst Meryl Streep performace I’ve ever seen. She was so messy and angry for no appearant reason. There was no substance. The character wanted to be like Elizabeth Taylor from “Who’s Afraid of Virginia Woolf” but couldn’t hold a candle.

  • Baegatha Christie

My guess: Any minority thing nominated will not win in that category. Not even in the Foreign Film category.

Edit: except for maybe Supporting Actor Michael Fassbender. But he’s not of melanin so…iont know if that’s really a win for 12 years a slave…

    • DameloSuave

I’m afraid that he will be only person to win for 12 Years, though it may also get screenplay. I hope my cynical side isn’t right, though.

      • marina

I stan for fassy, but y’all might be right.

  • Chidiva

Chiwetel Ejiofor needs to win because he’s finer than fine

  • mrsrony

I’m mad The Butler got screwed…esp compared to American Hustle. Best Actor “should” go to Chiwetel Ejiofor but I doubt that will happen so Leo would be my only acceptable 2nd. I appreciate Mathew losing weight but his acting wasnt beyond the norm. Anyone other than Lupita winning will be insanity. Support either Jared or Fassbender. No one I want to win ever does..grrr.

  • Leo the Yardie Chick

Question: Is American Hustle a drama or a comedy? In the theatres here, they previewed it as a drama, but the commercials on cable make it out to be some alleged gut-buster. A real bait-and-switch, if you ask me.

I haven’t seen any of the films listed, so I don’t care either.

  • Chitown Sista

The only one I saw was Gravity and I didnt like it. It was overhyped and boring even. I only saw it because I like Sandra Bullock. It was a waste of money. The best thing about it was the joke Tina Fey made about it on the Golden Globes. ” Gravity, a movie proving George Clooney would rather float away and die than spend another minute with a woman his own age.” I laughed so hard at that. Otherwise I didnt see any of the others. I usually never see any Oscar nominated films unless its an animated one like Toy story or something.

I have actually seen all of these movies for the big categories. So I got opinions. :) Lots of bias opinions.

I will not be surprise if Bruce Dern goes home with the golden man/Best Actor. At all.

If there is one thing the voting Academy enjoys doing… is giving it to the actor with a huge history/body of great work. And Bruce is that guy. Plus it really was not a bad movie. But I like odd movies and weird humor, that this one had going on.

Yet, Matthew McConaughey, is going to be out there hustling like crazy
looking for those votes. He realizes that he might not get this chance
again. And I did the ugly cry in that movie. So yea, I can see him getting the golden man too.

    I
truly think, Twelve Years a Slave, looks like the front runner for Best
Picture/Director. I don’t know if it can get the actor awards. But I can totally
see snatching Best Picture. Since I did the ugly cry in that one too.

Did not care for “The Wolf of Wall Street”. Seriously, I just did not care for that movie. Nor the actors nominated.

As much as I wanted to like August Osage County… it was not that great. And for the love of all things holy. Neither Meryl or Julia deserves the golden man for that overly dramatic movie. The things/people, I liked about it. Isn’t even being recognized.

Did not care for Blue Jasmine either. It was just too… unlikeable? I can’t explain why, very well. I am just not a fan of it. And like Meryl, Cate Blanchett just gets overly dramatic. Like August Osage County… the actors that I enjoyed in the film, have gotten no love from the Academy.

I will not be surprise if Judi Dench wins/Best Actress for her little seen film. Which also made me cry.

I can see Jared Leto winning Supporting Actor… unless Fassbender gets out there and hustle for the votes. Jared has been hustling for months. But Fassbender could snatch it from him, if he tried.

    American Hustle. Ummmm.

Honestly Bradley Cooper should win some kind of award for that perm. Maybe best Hair-do? :)

Loved Jennifer Lawrence in it. Simply cause she had the best lines. (I do not understand the hype for Amy Adams role. At all.)

Yet, I did that ugly cry for Twelve Years a Slave… so I honestly can see Lupita Nyong’o going home, with the golden man/Best Supporting.

And I was really disappointed with Despicable Me 2. I loved Despicable Me 1. So I see anyone but Despicable Me 2 winning.

  • Alessandro Mariano

12 years a slave though? shit was good. like tears good. like fucked with my life good. like i would have gone to see it again good

  • notconvincedgranny

I see the usual suspects. The Butler didn’t just get shafted, it got stomped, kicked, and rolled in the dirt. Fruitvale Station was so tough it made my heart ache for days. They should let Lupita N’yongo just show up as the talented black woman she is, and stand there glowing brighter than any of the actual Oscar statues. And give her the dang award now. I’ve been bopping around to “Happy” since I saw the movie, and now it’s being used in a commercial, but I don’t expect the alien ferret who wrote it to win. Would be nice, though.

  • Jonesey

    Machete isn’t on there… so I really don’t care.
