Question: What is the nicest thing anyone has ever done for you?

It’s hard not to think about all the things that are wrong with human beings. It’s too easy to look recall far too many incidents where another human has just truly let you down and so many instances in the news where biped homo-sapiens have just truly truly truuuuuly caused you to want to relocate to a planet somewhere in the Delta quadrant of the galaxy.

But this is not a day that we’re talking about that.

Nope bytch nope.

Today we are talking about the amazing things you have experienced due to another person just taking the time to reach out to you.

boo_hug

also… let’s talk about the last nice thing you can remember doing for someone else.

then…. then… I want you to think about to yourself or post about what nice thing you plan to do for someone today…no matter how small it is. Because we can ALL be the difference really. There is nothing stopping any of us from being the change we want to happen in this world.

SO go to it, folks….

let’s discuss happiness…

what was the last thing someone did for you , what was the last thing YOU did and what’s stopping you from doing something more…

yesterday I walked outside to a flat tire. Ugh! I’m 40 minutes from home and I wasn’t real sure about this jack I have. So I call Verizon roadside assistance (yes verizon it’s 3 bucks a month y’all can pay all that money for AAA if you want to). Anyway, they are talking some fuck-ass shit about it taking almost 2 hours for someone to get there.

I was not in the mood to wait but at least I was at work and safe.

I see this man that I see all the time in the office. I put on my damsel in distress face LOL and told him I have a flat tire. He immediately comes over and changes it for me. Because I have this weird jack he had to get on the ground and everything. He didn’t even hesitate to help me. Saved me tons of time.

My old boss and her going overboard to make sure I’m successful at work. Seriously this woman has been an Angel this week.

I’m not one to brag on myself. I find telling folks oh I did this for so and so or I paid for a strangers lunch and stuff like that to be narcissistic and that’s not how I get down. In general I try my best to be polite and nice to everyone I encounter. If there is a way that I can do a little extra I do it.

A certain someone *coughBeffaHeffacough* gave me her username/password to access flexjobs.com. She also lent an ear and allowed me to vent. :-)

    • JustSlaus

that heffa let’s me vent every other day and the other ones. Then she helps me come back down to earth and just get shyt done.

I kinda love the shyt out of her. I don’t even know if she realizes it.

      she ain’t bout shyt though.

Yeah… when you need a friend, Beth is ALL THAT plus a bunch of other great stuff.

      • Beffa

        shut up! LOL

you my dearest and probably most important friend mean the entire universe to me!

        deal with it!

    • Beffa

I should delete your comment LMAO

Sis if only you knew how important our conversation was to me. Shoot you know why think about it.

I told you yesterday you are so important me!

      I love you sis!

      • Chocl8t

Oh the FEELS!!! I have the FEELS!!! LOL

  • Jonesey

The last thing someone did? Hmmm… shop assistant gave me another coffee drink even though I dropped my bag on the way out the store and the one I bought exploded all over my jeans and shoes. That was nice, she wouldn’t have had to. I helped her clean up in turn.
Then probably the fact that my boss spent an insane (to me, at least) amount of money this year to have me learn how to work InDesign – I mean, we use it at work but only for proofreading, I was merely curious about the entire workings of it and he just said “alright then, that’s what you’re learning this year”. I loved it. Adobe is some serious balm for my MS Office-sore neuronal pathways…

I try to do all kinds of things regularly. Donate to Kickstarter projects of people I know, helping friends out of tight spots, translating the odd private document/website text here and there, (help) run/moderate FB pages/groups for people without either time or accounts of their own… little things. I offer a hand where I can. If I’m qualified, it fits into my schedule and I know the person can’t afford a professional… I’ll do it. I believe in making happy happen.

    • Beffa

“I believe in making happy happen.”

      Love this !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Dwane T. For serious. He knew i was seriously struggling with some issues over me trying to learn Buddhism and adhere to many of it’s tenets. Somehow he knew I had been seriously struggling and dealing with lots of negativity from some friends and family over my decision to find piece and balance outside of Christianity. Don’t know how he knew because I didn’t discuss it with anyone as far as I know.

But he reached out to me as a Christian and apologized for those Christians in my life who decided I was a bad person for following this new path. He explained some things to me as to why they probably felt the way they did but made NO excuses for them. We even spoke about how I came to take this journey and had nothing but positive encouragement. Interesting that he told me right when I needed to hear it as I WAS feeling a little down over the relationships lost because of this choice i’ve made.

    I Love that Dwane T.

    • Beffa

Dwane is everything! There is no other way to even say it!

      I love me some Dwane!

and let me say I love your journey into Buddhism! LOVE IT!!!

    • Chocl8t

Walking away from Christianity is HARD. HAARRRRRD!!! Trust me, I know. So happy for you that someone was there to encourage you along the way on your new path of spirituality!!!

    • SY

I have recently converted to Buddhism as well, and received a lot of backlash from “Christians” you have a real friend… that is awesome!

My old boss saved my life. It was right after I miscarried my son and I was in a deep depression. He called everyday for 2 weeks with various things to say. He told me jokes, crap that was going on at work all kinds of things. I was trying to figure out how to “end it all” and I think he felt it. He came over and sat at the foot of my bed and just talked to me. Told me i needed to get my ass up and come back to work and clean the office but before i do wash my ass cause i smelled like a sack of 10 mad asses fighting to get out. I laughed and laughed and laughed till I cried. But it felt wonderful. Whereas my husband couldn’t get thru to me my boss did.

    • Jonesey

That story warms my heart. Sometimes it really doesn’t take much.

  • HappyStina

My boss always makes my life easier! He is the sweetest person I know. If I mention a problem I have he looks for way to make it better. If it is a bill I can’t pay or my car breaks down, he has it fixed or gives me a “bonus”! No questions asked. In turn I try to run the hayle out of his company. Going above and beyond for the customers so they will be repeat customers and give good word of mouth referrals. Just last week I had a customer call looking for a very specific light bulb for her almost blind mother in law’s reading machine. (I work for an electrician) We didn’t have it in stock and basically no one here had ever heard of it. I had her email me a picture of it and I called the lighting company we use regularly and found the bulb. Instead of ordering it and marking the price up, I called her and told her exactly where to go and how much it would be so she could save money and get it immediately. She was thrilled to pieces and told me what a blessing I have just given her mother in law because her reading machine was all she could see and it kept her from living a pretty boring existence. Made me feel all gooey inside, but really I would have done this for anyone and I frequently do.

I have 2 – I good friend of mine insisted that I come spend Christmas with her – It was my 1st one since the Divorce – no expectations, no conditions just get there and she’d take care of me.

Headed home from her place I stopped into visit another friend whom I hadn’t seen in years… while we were catching up, She & her husband decided to just up and give me some cash… why? because they could…

I can’t tell you how much these people warmed my soul!

I let a car in front of me at the drive through at Starbucks even though they came in from the wrong direction.

I laughed, but this is some serious shit! Starbucks is worth fighting over!

Nicest thing (True story)… my first round of Spring Break (1981) I had my first Long Island.. and the second.. and maybe the third? All I know is I woke up on the beach, under a bench. This sweetheart of a family found me there. They (mom, dad, kid) asked me if I was there for Spring Break, etc… laughter enthused… they took me to breakfast and gave me taxi fare home.

Ahh.. the good old days (esp for Florida)..

  • DameloSuave

I’m not sure about the nicest, but recently one of the sisters at church (she’s married so it was level) made me a lemon cake, after I playfully asked – I totally wasn’t expecting that and it was quite good. Other times, it can be a smile, a hug, letting me vent – but still keeping me in check, that make a day that much more special.

I try to be friendly to my coworkers and people I see on the job – when I’m driving to work, you’re on your own lol. But just doing something to make someone else’s day seem brighter, even if it’s small. I don’t really know what I’ve done to help someone else – not that I haven’t, but I don’t think about it as much. The things I do remember, could sound like bragging, so I only share in context.

Last year, August 27,2013, I was done, with my husband. I just had a 55″ tv thrown at me, he threw my keys on top of my apartment complex and took off with the only functioning vehicle. I have 3 kids 9, 4, & 2. And I just sat down and cried. my BFF so happened to call and I was crying so hard trying to explain what had just happened… she showed up (while still on the phone) got me and my babies and took us to her house. She didn’t ask for a cent, didn’t ask how long we needed to stay.

The same BFF lost her brother in April of 2013 on his birthday, and didn’t have money for the funeral. While i couldn’t give her all the money she needed I gave her every spare cent I could afford. There was and never will be talk of payback.

Dec 2013 – my mom put my down payment on a new car, in her name, in order for me to hide from the ex. And as of today, has yet to ask for her money back.

MY BFF saved my life, my mother helped me hide…

    • Beffa

I got a little teary eyed reading this…bless your heart and bless your BFF and mother

A quiet, introverted kid at school. But with something, something in my head. Something that possibly – although I certainly couldn’t focus it – was trying to point towards some sort of creativity.

My art teacher at school obviously spotted it. Mr Glazier. He took me to one side after class one day and simply implored me to visit the Royal Academy of Art in Central London, where there was a large retrospective of Italian 20th Centure art. He said he really thought I’d enjoy it.

Were it not for him, and that suggestion (perfect, btw), I’d not be the person I am now (for good or bad!) I will never forget that.

In 8th grade the twin and I had the opportunity to travel to Spain with our Spanish teachers and our classmates. There was no way Mom could pay for both of us to go (and there wasn’t any way my ponk ass dad was going to help). Mom explained to our teachers that she couldn’t send us, but they very kindly told her to hush and split the second cost between them. Didn’t find out until years later but it always makes me teary when I think about it.

New Years Eve, 2009. Watched the ball drop at a hospital emergency room with my mother, who called and said she felt funny. She never spent another night at home. After going through the tortures of the damned, she found release May, 2012 In that same time I had 3 back surgeries, so after my own recovery my life was hospital-work-hospital-home. I was reaching my breaking point and submitted my resignation. My supervisor said nope – family leave is unpaid so I’m gonna lay you off so you can collect unemployment and be rehired with your seniority in tact. Mom died one week after that, but I was able to spend every second possible with her. February 2013 my oldest sister died due to complications from a stroke. I never went back to work, but my former cellmates made sure I knew I was never alone. Some people area co-workers; others are friends. I found friends.

    Teacher moments:
    1) I had a candle on my desk, I couldn’t light it, but it was a nice break from the smell of teenage boys in my classroom. One day I was absent, and the substitute let some students rough house and break it. I was crestfallen. About a week later, a student and her mom brought in a HUGE box filled with about 50 assorted candles of all shapes, sizes and scents. It was incredibly sweet!
    2) When my father recently passed, I missed a lot of work. When I did show up, one class (all 30 students) stopped me at the door to hug me and tell me how sorry they were.
    3) When I got divorced, some students offered to beat up my ex husband :) Of course I told them no.

    I love all these stories!!

One of the nicest things, since I didn’t answer that before, was probably also my boss. I move house a lot because I get bored/wanderlust and such. Second-to-last time I did the renovation myself but paid a service to transport my stuff. Last time around, a year ago, I didn’t have the time or the energy to do all the renovation myself, especially since it was a bigger place than the one before. So I had to spend money on that but then had none left for the move itself. I hardly know anyone with a car, and at the time only one friend even had time to show. I told my boss it was gonna be a tedious move with only the two of us girls dragging all my stuff down from the 3rd floor and up to the 4th again. He’d already told me I could have his company/family car (VW bus) but when I told him I had only one friend to help, he said “give me a day to get back to you, I may have a solution”. So, what happened was – he got 4 of his guy friends together and they rolled up that Sunday morning, everyone in seperate cars, and they all helped carry and move. We were done within 2 hours… and I realized me and my friend would’ve NEVER made it alone. I offered to take them all out for a drink or something but boss said he’d take care of it, that he made sure they did it as a favor to him and not me and that he wanted no compensation from me at all. That was awesome right there.

The nicest thing recently came via the cashier at a chinese food buffet. She was happy to see me since I hadn’t been there in awhile. She makes fun of how I stick to my budget, but that day I was really hungry and got more than double my usual amount. But when I got the bil she had charged me exactly my budget limit. Too sweet.

The nicest thing ever was probably by my first boss in education. I was still in college, and to get from school to my job I had to take the bus and train each day… so I was always late. But rather than fire me (which she should have), she and her husband bought me a car. I couldn’t drive a stick, but I still made it on time because I didn’t want to let her down.

A well-respected, thoughtful, and intelligent person told me he hoped his daughter would grow up to be like me. Caught me completely off guard, but it really made me stop worrying about a lot of things I think I’m doing wrong in life.

I am Diana, I promise to share this testimony all over the world once my boyfriend return back to me, and today with all due respect i want to thank DR.KALA for bringing joy and happiness to my relationship and my family. I want to inform you all that there is a spell caster that is real and genuine. I never believed in any of these things until i loosed my boyfriend, I required help until i found a grate spell caster, And he cast a love spell for me, and he assured me that I will get my boyfriend back in two days after the spell has been cast. two days later, my phone rang, and so shockingly, it was my boyfriend who has not called me for past 4 years now, and made an apology for the heart break, and told me that he is ready to be my back bone till the rest of his life with me. DR.KALA released him up to know how much i loved and wanted him. And opened his eyes to picture how much we have share together. As I`m writing this testimony right now I`m the most happiest girl on earth and me and my boyfriend is living a happy life and our love is now stronger than how it were even before our break up. So that`s why I promised to share my testimony all over the universe. All thanks goes to DR.KALA for the excessive work that he has done for me. Below is the email address in any situation you are undergoing a heart break, and I assure you that as he has done mine for me, he will definitely help you too. kalaspellhome55@gmail.com that is his email address bye…

I dunno what i'm putting here yet. It'll be something ignorant though.
