I'm a fan of Lupe Fiasco. He's one of those "take-what-you-need-leave-what-you-don't" rappers. In a completely different TWYNLWYD way than a rapper who I'm fond of because of his musicality, his production and beats only. Lupe, IMO tends to drop some serious knowledge and inspiration in his songs...but he also tends to devolve into conspiracy theories and unhelpful ramblings. One thing you can give him however is CONSISTENCY. As he continues to gator spin into apocalyptic conspiracy holes (it seems to have gotten worse over the years), he decided to pour cold water over the accomplishments of some black men who graduated from a Chicago school recently: Dozens of young, black men who recently graduated from area high schools gathered Saturday to be honored for their achievement, but they also got a dose of reality from rapper Lupe Fiasco. The local rapper began by saying, “Congratulations, you have graduated from one of the most terrible, substandard school systems in the entire world. You have just spent the last . . . 12 years receiving one of the worst educations on earth. You are at least four, five steps behind people in other countries that are younger than you.. Oh really, Lupe? Tell me more? Transition to manhood is the most important thing that’s [...]
This might sound weird -- but I've lived in the Southern United States for the better part of my life, yet I'm still shocked every time I see a confederate flag. Oh they're here -- make no mistake about that, but contrary to what you might think you don't really see them all that much. But when you do actually catch sight of one, you best believe there's a reason someone felt compelled to show those colors where others can see. Just this past week while I was taking a short vacation trip down to Tampa, I was caught off-guard by the site of this huge flag just off the interstate, waving where anyone could see it whether they wanted to or not. The confederate flag represents a lot of things. If I wanted to, I could probably fill up a page with historical facts and discussions on how this simple three-color image provides a certain level of identification for a segment of the United States who's past transgressions and attitudes many feel projects an image on them that's simply not true. But I won't, because that's total bullshit. See, whether you like it or not, the rebel flag has be co-opted.And no amount of Dukes of Hazzard re-runs are ever going to [...]

Floridian shoots whiny customer for complaining..then justifies it with Stand Your Ground Law….Florida..serious?
A Florida man is using the state’s “stand your ground” law as a defense after he shot a customer who was complaining about slow service at a St. Petersburg Little Caesars Pizza restaurant. Randall White, 49, was in line waiting for his pizza on Sunday when he began complaining that he wasn’t being served fast enough. According to the Tampa Bay Times, 52-year-old Michael Jock was also in line and scolded White for whining. The two began arguing and it eventually “became a shoving match,” police spokesperson Mike Puetz said. After White allegedly raised his fist, Jock pulled out a .38 Taurus Ultralight Special Revolver and fired a shot into the man’s torso. A second shot also hit White in the torso. One round became lodged in the restaurant wall. When police arrived, Jock told them that the shooting had been justified under Florida’s “stand your ground” law, which says that gun owners do not have a “duty to retreat.” “He felt he was in his rights,” Puetz explained. “He brought it up specifically and cited it to the officer.” Jock, who had a concealed-carry permit, told police that White had an object in his hand, but later abandoned that story under police questioning. “We determined it did not reach a level where [...]
